ADB to provide 150 million dollars loan to improve power distribution, efficiency in Nepal

Kathmandu, June 30: The Asian Development Bank’s (ADB) Board of Directors has approved 150 million dollars loan to help improve the reliability and efficiency of Nepal’s electricity supply and distribution through the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA).
Issuing a press release Friday, the ADB said it will also administer a 2 million dollar's technical assistance grant from the Japan Fund for Poverty Reduction (JFPR) financed by the Government of Japan to strengthen the capacity of Nepal’s energy sector to deliver Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) results.

“Reliable and sustainable electricity distribution and service is an important aspect to Nepal’s growth and development, as well as in the improvement of the quality of life its people,” said Jiwan Acharya, an ADB Senior Energy Specialist. “We are confident that the project will help improve electricity distribution and efficiency in the country, and significantly support the government’s goal of ending the country’s energy crisis within the next two years and achieving Sustainable Development Goal 7 (Sustainable Energy for All).”
Moreover, it said the electricity supplies are expected to increase rapidly during the next several years through various hydropower projects nearing completion and imports from India through cross-border line. Therefore, existing transmission and distribution systems need to be immediately rehabilitated and upgraded for the network to be able to deliver the additional electricity supplies to consumers.
The project will enhance the distribution capacity and improve reliability and quality of electricity supply in the Kathmandu Valley by reducing distribution system overloads and technical and commercial losses.
This will be done through the strengthening of the transmission grid capacity, increasing capacity and rehabilitating the distribution network in the project area, and enhancing operational and financial performance of NEA distribution centers. The project will also develop NEA’s capacity to operate and manage an advanced distribution system and intelligent network (smart grid) technology with GESI aspects in electricity access and end-user awareness programs. Seema Subedi and Facebook live video controversy

From the past few days if you have paid careful attention to your Facebook timeline you will see Seema Subedi being trolled and many angry posts against her. She is on the Facebook newsfeed, Twitter, YouTube and all the social platforms.

But what exactly has happened?

Why is she so popular overnight?

And most importantly why is everyone so angry on her?

Seema Subedi Shrestha lives currently in Mumbai although she was born in Auagpur, Assam. She won the pageant title of Mrs. India 2016 from Chennai in May. In that year she represented India at Mrs. Asia International 2016 in Kualampur and won the main title.

Seema Subedi and Facebook live video controversy

The controversy began earlier this week when Seema Subedi live-streamed herself on Facebook and talked about her opinions about the Gorkhaland movement, Nepali speaking people in India and ‘unfortunately’, she also said what she thinks about the Nepalese people in general; and well, she didn’t have anything good to say about the people in Nepal.

In addition to that she kept repeating her stand about how Indian Gorkhas and Nepalese are completely different; and how proud she is to be an Indian. Well that was nothing wrong and nobody would actually feel bad with that but then she probably crossed the line by saying Nepalis go to India to do the dishes.

As soon as her live video ended and it was saved on her Facebook handle; dozens of Nepali Facebook pages, YouTube channels and online portals picked the story and talked about how she insulted Nepal and its people.

However; as soon as Seema realized the magnitude of her ‘mistake’ and came to know how furious people are, she was live on Facebook again, on Sunday, to apologize. And this time she spoke in Nepali, unlike the first time when she spoke in Hindi. But looks like people are not in a mood to forgive her as she is still being criticized for her statements about Nepalis.

Massage To Narendra Modi By Grand Mother

Narendra Damodardas Modi is an Indian politician who is the 14th and current Prime Minister of India, in office since May 2014. He was the Chief Minister of Gujarat from 2001 to 2014, and is the Member of Parliament for Varanasi. Modi, a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), is a Hindu nationalist and member of the right-wing Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Born to a Gujarati family in Vadnagar, Modi helped his father sell tea as a child, and later ran his own stall. He was introduced to the RSS at the age of eight, beginning a long association with the organisation. He left home after graduating from school, partly because of an arranged marriage which he rejected. Modi traveled around India for two years, and visited a number of religious centres. He returned to Gujarat and moved to Ahmedabad in 1969 or 1970. In 1971 he became a full-time worker for the RSS. During the state of emergency imposed across the country in 1975, Modi was forced to go into hiding. The RSS assigned him to the BJP in 1985, and he held several positions within the party hierarchy until 2001, rising to the rank of general secretary.
Modi was appointed Chief Minister of Gujarat in 2001, due to Keshubhai Patel’s failing health and poor public image following the earthquake in Bhuj. Modi was elected to the legislative assembly soon after. His administration has been considered complicit in the 2002 Gujarat riots,[a] or otherwise criticised for its handling of it, although a court found no evidence to prosecute Modi.[b] His policies as chief minister, credited with encouraging economic growth, have received praise.[8] His administration has been criticised for failing to significantly improve health, poverty, and education indices in the state. Modi led the BJP in the 2014 general election, which gave the party a majority in the Lok Sabha, the first time a single party had achieved this since 1984. Modi himself was elected to parliament from Varanasi. Since taking office, Modi’s administration has tried to raise foreign direct investment in the Indian economy, increased spending on infrastructure, and reduced spending on healthcare and social welfare programmes. Modi has attempted to improve efficiency in the bureaucracy, and centralised power through the abolition of the planning commission. He has begun a high-profile sanitation campaign, and weakened or abolished environmental and labour laws. Credited with engineering a political realignment towards right-wing politics, Modi remains a figure of controversy domestically and internationally over his Hindu nationalist beliefs and his role during the 2002 Gujarat riots, cited as evidence of an exclusionary social agenda.

The Darjeeling Hills and the people of Nepali-Indian Gorkhas ethnic origin on the Northern part of West Bengal on the basis of linguistic and cultural difference with regard to Bengali culture. The demand is still undergoing in the form of several strikes, rallies, etc. Darjeeling movement for Gorkhaland has gained momentum in the line of an ethno-linguistic-cultural sentiment of the Nepali language speaking Indian people who desire to identify themselves as Indian Gorkhas. Two mass movements for Gorkhaland have taken place under the Gorkha National Liberation Front (1986–1988) and Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) (2007–present).

A century ago, the people of Darjeeling areas felt that on the basis of their ethnic history and distinct identity, a separate administrative unit for the Gorkhas would be an initiative for the greater good of the community. This separate administrative unit, with time, took the shape of a demand for a separate state within India. It was also raised in the Constituent Assembly, by Ari Bahadur Gurung, a barrister from Kalimpong and a member of the Constituent Assembly. In 1986, Subhash Ghising, a former army soldier and a poet, revived the demand for the separate state. He also coined the term Gorkhaland. Following his call for a separate state under the banner of Gorkha National Liberation Front (GNLF) a party which he set up, the Gorkhas of Darjeeling, Siliguri Terai and Dooars began the agitation. A violent agitation followed in which over 1200 people were killed as per official records. The West Bengal government headed by then chief minister Jyoti Basu relented and agreed to set up the Darjeeling Gorkha Hill Council (DGHC), an autonomous body under the concept of a state within a state.
