The route from Sarangkot and passing through Kaskikot and Toripani before reaching Naudanda had not been in use since a long time. The 14-km trek starts from the foothills of Sanrangkot hills and is very good for tourists who want a day long trek, said senior officer at NTB, Pokhara Surya Thapaliya.The trekking route was rehabilitated under the 'hiking with NTB, the lost trail' programme. As per the programme, the NTB has been working with stakeholder organizations to rehabilitate the old trekking routes.
A view of Pokhara city as well as of the majestic himalayan range is an attraction of this rehabilitated 'Sarangkot-Naudanda' trekking route. The route had come under shadow since the beginning of transportation service in the Pokhara-Baglung highway.
Day-long trekking routes like these would not only help lengthen the stay of foreign tourists in Pokhara but could also attract domestic tourists for a short trek, Coordinator of National Tourism Promotion Committee in Western Region Govinda Raj Pahari said. RSS
